Henry van der Zwan

The best music is the kind that feels effortless, like a gentle conversation with a friend. That's exactly what Henry van der Zwan's new instrumental 'Guitar Noodles' is like. A pleasant sound through mellow grooves and detailed guitar work that feels relaxed and in a way, melancholic.

The soothing and calm chord progressions move in the background with soft yet impacting drums and bass. 'Guitar Noodles' slides right in with its warm, inviting melodies and easy-going rhythm. It’s the kind of track that makes you want to lean back, close your eyes, and let the music take you on a little journey.

Henry's performance feels improvised. Every note nods with elegance, inspired by the soulful sounds of guitar legends like Mark Knopfler and JJ Cale. Henry's guitar sings, tells stories, and sometimes just drifts along, creating a sorrowful, yet thoughtful atmosphere.

It doesn’t try to overwhelm with flashy solos or complex arrangements. Instead, it finds its charm in the subtlety and emotion of each strum and pick. It's effortlessly heart-touching.

Henry van der Zwan started jamming on the guitar at 15, diving into Hardrock and Metal (NWOBHM). Growing up, his house was filled with all kinds of music - jazz, classical, pop, blues, rock, disco, and funk.

He played in a local band called Jack-A-Dandy in the early '90s and had a short stint with Fuzzle. In 2018, he joined Flashback Zaandam and now rocks out with Blue Flame, a blues rock band.

Fast forward to 2024, and Henry’s got new tunes for us! His latest single, 'Guitar Noodles,' is out now, bringing those Mark Knopfler and JJ Cale vibes. Henry’s musical journey has been impressive. He dropped his first EP, Sketching, in 2021, followed by Grass & Scroll in 2022, featuring guest musician Derek Sherinian.

January 2023 saw the release of his first full-length album, Soaring Over Clay. Then, on August 27, 2023, he treated us to a fresh EP with four tracks. And the good news is, more new singles are coming in 2024!
