After the success of 'Keep Falling', with 'Electric Twilight', Gabrielle Lindau a.k.a Smorshee has once again, stepped into the EDM scene. Coming from a rich history of music production with various instruments and genres, including mixtapes, she's been doing this from a young age and is quite passionate about it. So, in the excitement of her new EP releasing this winter, this first track does a solid job of giving you a sort of introduction to what's coming.
With that being said, this instrumental is a downright powerhouse, with cranked-up synths, high-speed arpeggios and a beat that can keep you in a trance, forever. The structure of this track is composed with a lot of variations in mind, with active layers that breathe in and out. Now, the track has a main melody and it appears in the form of synth leads that repeat themselves alongside some breaks and drops that play with the rhythm and notes.
Diving deeper, the sound feels like it's going through a fine-tuned compressor or a limiter that kind of pushes the dynamic range up in the headroom. And then it probably gets elevated further by reverb and delay effect, basically, this instrumental perfectly clears all the traditional EDM essentials. Now here's something even more interesting, if you'll listen closely, the speed of this track increases slightly as it reaches its end. And this pace shift hits really hard when all synths come together, getting side-chained by the kick.
The reason Smorshee’s track sounds so professional, even as a self-produced artist, is her experience and background in indie film and music video production. It’s given her a solid understanding of how to tell a story through both sound and visuals, which really takes her artistry to the next level. And yes, as said before, Smorshee is working on an EP with original tracks and to add onto that, she continues to lean more into her drum and bass influences. It’s a clear sign of her diverse musical taste and her drive to make a big impact on the EDM scene.
